Optonautics was founded for the purpose of developing and deploying innovative optics, electronics and robotic systems for the Ocean Sciences, creating new tools to monitor the vital health of Earth’s oceanic ecosystem.

Optonautics' interests align with both small, independent research efforts, and with those Agencies and Consortia capable of managing meso-scale survey projects.

Optonautics engages with Academia and STEM programs, inspiring and opening our door to those who show curiosity and  initiative. Those inquiring minds will build the next-gen tools to probe the rich mysteries of the vast ocean  depths. It's they who will extend this nascent technology into the future. 
 

Optonautics' efforts will contribute to the global effort to chart new vistas in the Ocean Sciences. We work toward a day when Earth's exotic undersea wilderness captures public fascination, when the connection between its vitality and our own is understood and a healthy mutual  future is cast.
